Partner Spotlight on Business Advisory Centre Durham

What is BACD?

We at the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) strive to help entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of starting or expanding their business within the Region of Durham, a part of the Greater Toronto Area. As a not-for-profit, we do this through free and low-cost seminars and workshops, one-on-one business advising, grant programs, informational resources, and more! We are a part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs, and are one of 57 Small Business Enterprise Centres (SBECs) across the province of Ontario who support entrepreneurs.

What are you doing to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week?

To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, we’ve decided to bring the festivities to Durham Region through a series of collaborative events to inspire entrepreneurs and small businesses to “Do It In Durham”. Since 2013, “Do It In Durham” has brought together local businesses and organizations who are already succeeding in the geographical landscape, and who want to share their expertise and experiences with other entrepreneurs in the community.

In 2014 we had 42 events, 60 in 2015 and we have 40 for 2016!

This year’s line-up of events has something for everyone. Event themes include a tradeshow, networking meet-ups, digital marketing seminars, tips for creating impactful websites, student entrepreneur showcases, and more! We encourage entrepreneurs to check out the full series of events and register to see how they can improve their business and continue to “Do It In Durham” successfully.

Why do you feel it’s important to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week?

An important part of entrepreneurship is connectivity, whether it be with your local community or as a part of a global initiative such as Global Entrepreneurship Week. The unity that it brings can be comforting and contagious, and serve to further ignite that fire within entrepreneurs by learning from one another. Celebrating innovators worldwide can help in inspiring the next generations of entrepreneurship dominators.
